I've worked on this list for a number of hours, thinking back to who has inspired me on my photography journey. Whose work do I look at and go "geez, how'd they take that?" or sometimes "holy mother of...". That's the kind of incredible talent that I have been inspired by, and it's by no means a complete list either. I could break it down into landscape photographers, commercial photographers, wedding photographers, etc. This is just my first attempt of listing out a bunch of really good photographers who are very good at what they do and inspired me to get to where I am now! 

Printing on metal is a relatively new medium to display artwork and I have seen dozens of metal prints that look spectacular, it's my preferred method to display my photography. But why should you get a print on metal? I have three reasons in this short blog about why metal prints are the way to go and why the metal print will look amazing on your wall.

I spend an unholy amount of time in front of a computer, working from home for marketing agencies and running a photography business, so I have the inside track on the best music to listen to while photo editing or maybe crushing through a presentation. While I believe it to be a universal fact, time spent at a cabin in the middle of nowhere is just as good as therapy without the high prices. Chase Shipley and I got some time at my family's cabin in the summer of 2017 and I can say that it's good for the soul. We spent time playing Yahtzee, throwing horse shoes, and chasing light. We visited American Basin for the first time and didn't have to deal with the nightmare that is "Sunday traffic back from the mountains".

This one of those stories that I'll retell whenever I get a chance because of how crazy, unexpected, and kind it is. It didn't end quite the way that I was hoping it would, but it's a damn good story. This is why traveling to a foreign country with five strangers is a good idea, the relationships formed on that trip could be some of the best you'll have. Or you might wake up in a bathtub full of ice and your kidney missing. Either way, you're bound to have a great story!

Landscape photography is a tricky little passion of mine because first, I'm not a morning person. Second, I'm an extrovert and I'm most at home with groups of friends. Living in Boulder, CO along the Front Range usually means that the light is going to be best at sunrise. Landscape photography also means that I'm probably going to have to go be alone somewhere. Two things that I don't really like to go do, so why do I continue to do landscape photography?

One of the most frequent discussions I have as a photographer is, Canon or Nikon? Every one asks and has an opinion but over the years I have found that the camera body actually matters less than we like to think it does. It's possible that I never thought about Nikon's products because I have been using Canon's cameras since 2004, it's also possible that Canon has been left behind when it comes to camera development in recent years. I'm not the most technical guy when it comes to writing lens reviews, while I care about the amount of chromatic aberration a particular lens displays I have never once heard someone say that chromatic aberration was a purchasing decision. It's never happened. Instead, it's usually price. There are two spectrums with price too; low price bargains and high priced exclusivity. This lens is neither of those and that's where we all win.

There was no way that Skogafoss would be able to live up to the hype that I had created in my mind after seeing all of the beautiful photos across social media for the past 11 years! It's like watching a really good trailer to a movie for 11 years, then you finally start watching the movie and you realize that you're watching Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. The letdown takes over, you question everything, you begin to doubt your purchase of that $30 burger you had at the cafe there at Skogafoss. We've all been there. What you have to do is adapt, roll with the punches, and get over yourself. And if you're still reading this excerpt I'm impressed, I stopped paying attention long ago...

If there is one question that I have been asked dozens upon dozens of times, it is "I'm thinking about getting a camera, what camera should I buy?". I cannot possibly answer that question in one blog so I'm breaking it down into sections, beginning with getting a full frame sensor or a cropped sensor. If you've never heard of this before, it is an important factor to consider and one you should know about before you buy your new camera.

When people ask, "what are you listening to?" I've learned that they are talking about podcasts these days. There are A LOT of podcasts out there, they are definitely a popular medium used by the likes of Chase Jarvis, Tim Ferriss, Scott Kelby, and more. But how do you cut through the noise and get to the quality content? That's where my abundance of free time comes in, I listen to podcasts and glean the top ones for you to listen to and improve your photography or just your commute.

Usually when people ask me if a photo is edited, I reply with "no way this is straight from the camera! Editing? Who does that?" but that's mainly because I'm insecure. Yes, I edit my photos. Some, I edit a lot. I have three landscape photography focused resources that have tutorials or video tutorials that I have found extremely helpful, and I wasn't even compensated for writing this post. I need to get better at blogging.
