Crested Butte lies within the mighty West Elk mountains and is one of the most beautiful towns in Colorado. It's a charming little ski town with a deep mining history, world-class ski resort, and incredible backcountry. Some of my favorite hikes in Colorado are in the Crested Butte, including the legendary Trail 401 for all you mountain bikers. This view is looking toward the town of Crested Butte, with the mountain Mineral Point looming in the background. This is the classic view of Crested Butte and one that greets all visitors in the winter, one of my personal favorites.
